GAPP response criteria
GAPP members aim to respond quickly (within 24-48 hours) to stories that:
- appear in an influential information source (influential in terms of prestige, geographic reach, likely readership; could be a newspaper, journal, social media platform)
- lack information or include misinformation about publication professionals.
GAPP team disclosures
GAPP is not a professional association and does not issue policy statements.
All GAPP team members declare that we: 1) have provided or do provide ethical medical writing services to academic, biotechnology, or pharmaceutical clients; and 2) are active in national and international not-for-profit associations that encourage ethical medical writing practices.
The International Society for Medical Publication Professionals (ISMPP) funds GAPP's website hosting fees. A website is considered necessary to facilitate transparency about GAPP.
GAPP team members are volunteers, and are not paid for the time they dedicate to GAPP. They do not speak on behalf of any professional association or their employers (as listed below).

Julia Donnelly
Dr Julia Donnelly (BPharm, PhD) has over 25 years’ experience as a medical publication and writing professional. She is committed to the delivery of ethical publications and provides frequent training programmes on publication ethics. Julia is a past president of EMWA and is the Principal of Julia Donnelly Solutions Ltd(Website).
Jackie Marchington
Dr Jackie Marchington (BSc Hons, PhD, ISMPP CMPP™) has over 25 years’ experience as a medical publication professional. She is passionate about ethical publication practices and fair attribution (aka copyright geek). Jackie serves on ISMPP’s Advocacy and Outreach Committee and is the Director of Global Operations and General Manager for Caudex Oxford (Part of McCann Complete Medical Website).

Art Gertel
Art Gertel (BS, MS) has more than 35 years’ experience as a medical publication, medical writing, and regulatory professional. In addition, he has developed curricula in global new drug approval processes, and is active in teaching bioethics in the context of clinical trials. He is a Past-President of AMWA and a Fellow of AMWA and EMWA. Art is President and Principal Consultant of MedSciCom, LLC, a provider of independent strategic regulatory consulting.

Cindy Hamilton
Dr Cindy Hamilton (PharmD, ELS) has more than 30 years’ experience as a medical publication professional. She is a past president of AMWA. She received AMWA’s Golden Apple Award for excellence in teaching in 2011 and AMWA’s Swanberg Award for her vision, courage, passion, and dedication to the medical communication profession in 2013. Cindy is the Principal of Hamilton House (Website).
Serina StrettonDr Serina Stretton (BSc Hons, PhD, ISMPP CMPP™) has more than 20 years’ experience as a medical publication professional. She has published peer-reviewed research on publication misconduct and is past-Convenor of the Medical Writing Interest Area Committee for ARCS Australia. Serina is the Scientific Solutions Lead for ProScribe – part of the Envision Pharma Group (Website).
